AI for All.
AI is in every field now. Learn to use it well in yours. AI for All is a 12-credit-hour undergraduate minor open to students in any major. Two shared core courses build a common foundation. Two electives from across campus connect it to your discipline and your interests.

What the minor is for
All fields are changing as AI tools spread. The minor gives students from every discipline a shared base for understanding that change, whatever their interests, and for whatever work comes next.
Understand it
Learn what AI is, where it came from, and what it can and cannot do, so you can question claims and judge results for yourself.
Use it with judgment
Practice with real tools: writing good prompts, checking what comes back, and weighing questions of privacy, ownership, and fairness.
Apply it in your field
Take electives in your discipline or a field you are curious about, and see how AI is changing its questions and methods. Get prepared for the AI workforce.
How it works
Start with the core
Every student takes the same two courses. The first introduces AI and its role in society. The second is hands-on, building practical skills and habits for using AI responsibly.
Then choose two electives
Electives come from departments across the university, so you can pair AI with the subject you already study or explore one you have always been curious about.

Who it is for
Any undergraduate, in any major and with any interest. You do not need a technical background. The core courses are introductory, and the minor is designed to sit alongside your major, whether that is nursing, business, music, history, or engineering. Along the way, you build skills that carry into the workplace.
If you want to go further, the Polytechnic@UofM offers applied AI degree and certificate pathways that build on this foundation. .
Propose an elective
The elective list is meant to grow, and we welcome courses from departments across the university. If you teach a course where AI itself is the subject, and it builds on the two core courses, we would like to hear about it.
Email us to start a proposal. We will send you the proposal form and the criteria courses are reviewed against.
